Waddell "Rusty" Frierson Jr., 43, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.  Born in Sumter, he was a son of Annette Frye Frierson and the late Waddell Frierson Sr. He was a member and deacon of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church and served as Sunday school superintendent for a number of years.

Survivors besides his mother of Sumter include a son, Justin Wade Frierson; a daughter, McKenzie Danielle Frierson; and a cousin who lived in his home, Carolyn Frye, all of Sumter.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, the Rev. T.B. and Lottie Frierson and Mr. and Mrs. James H. Frye Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Bobby Driggers and the Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.

James Frye, Frankie Frye, Ted Frye, Tony Alexander, Jerry Stone and Eric Frye will serve as pallbearers. Deacons of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home, 560 Mims Road.  Memorials may be made to Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 240 Myrtle Beach Hwy., Sumter, SC 29153 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 5000 Thurmond Mall, Suite No. 106, Columbia, SC 29201.

Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home of Sumter is in charge of arrangements.
